In order to distill my thoughts I find it useful to put pen to paper. Here is a collection of reflections that have shaped my work over the years.

Collective Behaviour

In order to perform the phenomenal aerial displays that we observe, the starlings need to act in a highly coordinated way. This behaviour is of considerable interest not only to biologists but to physicists, engineers and mathematicians.

The Nobel Prize for Physics

In 2021 the Nobel Prize organisation chose to use my images to illustrate their award for physics when they awarded three scientists the prize for “groundbreaking contributions to our understanding of complex physical systems”.

Nowhere

A collection of images on the theme of “Nowhere” was the theme for the 2020 Cley Contemporary Art Exhibition. Hanging them at Cley went ahead in July 2021 as the exhibition was postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
